Plovdiv Central Railway Station

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

The railway station in Plovdiv with its railroad junction was one of the first pictures that I took with my old Canon 60D and the 40mm pancake lens. At that time, I was a newbie in photography. I knew how to use aperture priority mode on the camera, but I had no idea about composition or other photography "rules". I relied mostly on my eye and intuition, and luckily, it turned out one of my best shots to date. It's taken right before sunset and I really like how empty and deserted the whole place looked that day.

I am thinking of creating a separate article about Plovdiv, as the city will be the European Capital of Culture in 2019. So keep an eye on my blog if you want to learn more about my hometown ;)

Thank you for reading and looking!

That's a great shot and the beauty about photography is that intuition can be the best tool. Even as a newbie it seems your intuition understood the golden ratio. The "rules" will be tossed anyway once you've reached mastery. Great shot.

Thanks a lot man! You are absolutely right about the intuition and the rules in photography :) I started following you and I look forward to reading your first post after "introduceyourself".

I would be so confused!

haha that's what i thought too,i think i will get lost

Haha, it may look confusing, but it's actually not! :)

The lighting: Coldness of winter but gentle glow of dusk.
The atmosphere of desolation and non-activity, in an area that exudes ghosts of movement.
The criss-crossing of overhead wires: Falling like a fine spider's web.
An image that has such a strong impact Dan. Trust in your intuition always. Will never let you down. Upvoted and resteemed. 🙏

Your comments are beautiful Alison. You are so good at conveying the mood and emotions of a photo in writing ;) Thank you so much for reading, looking, commenting, upvoting and resteeming my photos!

Always such a pleasure Daniel. I've never seen myself as a writer ~ Far more visually oriented. But an image that I can connect with, becomes a great spring board to leap off from and clear the notion: 'I'm not a writer.' So I give thanks to you. 🙏🙏🙏

Very beautiful. I made a similar picture of the train station of Cologne. Great job!

Thanks a lot man! Where can I see your photo of Cologne railway station? :)
