Da qualche parte in Italia si celano alcuni tra i tesori più preziosi che l’umanità possa mai aver visto. Parti insieme a noi in questo viaggio fotografico alla scoperta dei più affascinanti luoghi storici sulla Terra.
Sometimes it takes a lot of imagination to dream, others just get in the car and get lost in the wonders hidden away from the chaos of the big cities. Civita di Bagnoregio, also known as "the dying city", is a small village of Etruscan origins located in the Tuscia Laziale, in the province of Viterbo. Suspended in the Valle dei Calanchi, Civita stands on top of a clayey hill that, slowly, silently but inexorably, recedes due to erosive atmospheric phenomena; the same ones who prematurely decreed his death. But can a timeless place die? From the civilization to the myth the length is that of a small concrete bridge built in 1965: no more than 400 meters that will lead you, step by step, to the discovery of a fairytale village that seems to be suspended between myth and history. A magical place is about to open before your eyes once you have crossed Porta di Santa Maria (today the only access to the village). Ancient houses that smell of the Middle Ages unfold around the main square, where stands the Church of San Donato, until you face the funeral void of the valley of the Calanchi, giving the visitor unique and breathtaking views. Each road or alley tells a different story, a story that began 2500 years ago in Etruscan times and continues through the centuries, marked by different dominations, first on all those of the Goths, followed by that of the Lombards and finally the State of the Church. If you have not yet visited Civita di Bagnoregio ... it will be good if you do it as soon as possible, it will not be there forever! A volte per sognare serve tanta fantasia, altre basta mettersi in macchina e perdersi tra le meraviglie nascoste e lontane dal caos delle grandi metropoli. Civita di Bagnoregio, nota anche come “la città che muore”, è un piccolo borgo di origini etrusche situato nella Tuscia Laziale, in provincia di Viterbo. Sospesa nella Valle dei Calanchi, Civita si erge sulla cima di una collina argillosa che, lentamente, silenziosamente ma inesorabilmente, retrocede a causa dei fenomeni atmosferici erosivi; gli stessi che ne hanno decretato prematuramente la sua morte. Ma può un luogo senza tempo morire? Dalla civiltà al mito la lunghezza è quella di un piccolo ponticello in cemento armato costruito nel 1965: non più di 400 metri che ti condurranno, passo dopo passo, alla scoperta di un borgo da favola che sembra essere sospeso tra mito e storia. Un luogo magico sta per schiudersi davanti a tuoi occhi una volta varcata la Porta di Santa Maria (oggi unico accesso al borgo). Case antiche che profumano di Medioevo si schiudono tutt’intorno alla piazza principale, dove sorge la Chiesa di San Donato, fino ad affacciarsi al vuoto funereo della valle dei Calanchi, donando al visitatore scorci unici e mozzafiato. Ogni stradina o vico racconta una storia diversa, una storia che inizia 2500 anni fa in epoca etrusca e prosegue attraverso i secoli, segnata da diverse dominazioni, prima su tutte quelle dei Goti, seguita da quella dei Longobardi ed infine dello Stato della Chiesa. Se non hai ancora visitato Civita di Bagnoregio …sarà bene che tu lo faccia il prima possibile, non resterà li per sempre!
