My first Carl Zeiss Lens... First impressions of my newest (to me) 50mm

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

This last week I made a bid on ebay on this Carl Zeiss Jenna Tessar 50mm 2.8 on a whim after reading what people were saying about these vintage Zeiss lenses. This particular model happened to be at the top of the list for sharpness yet still having that awesome almost fantastical bokeh that I love and have spent lots of time and money trying to achieve.

I spent just a few minutes outside walking around our yard seeing what I could see and I have to say I already love this lens!! I paid just a little over a dollar a year for how old this lens is and I can already tell it's one of the best $60 i've every spent!

In my first ten minutes with this lens i'm 100% blown away by the quality of a 60 year old lens!!!

I can't wait to do some awesome portraits with this thing!!

Lovely bokeh there, almost on par with some of those vintage russian lenses. Cant wait to see what else you can get out of it

I’ve got a Helios and that thing is amazing.

Glass is glass! I recently picked up a 105 f2 prime, and it's so unreasonably sharp it hurts.
