A couple of things. First, I was all over Google image search right now looking at "Herb Trimpe" signatures because I already had forgot that Hockey players name was Herb too and noticed Herb Trimpe did the art in this book (yes, the comic art in this book may not be flashy, but that is because they seemed to have hired a great artist from a previous generation that was Trimpe). Anyways, second, this is so awesome!
Did you get this signed yourself or did you buy it like this? I'm curious the story of signing the post it note over the book itself, like were you a kid and said "Hey, I want your autograph but I don't want you to ruin the book!" lol
Haha, glad u enjoyed it. Ya i met herb Carnegie when i was a kid and got his signature after telling him i had the comic, i did not have it with me at the time. I think my teacher at the time had also gotten his autographs (for me) not knowing that i had also gotten it & that’s probably why there are two. She actually gave me the comic.
Future Aces program was a huge thing at the time in my/many public schools.
I enjoy it a lot, what an awesome comic and signature and now story behind that signature (I have a Don Mattingly signed 3" 5" index card that does not have a cool story at all behind it). Very cool of Herb. The bonus of having that signature on the paper over the comic, is now you can buy a newer/cleaner copy of that comic to put in a frame if you end up doing that. What a kick ass niche off-shoot comic on it's own and really unique signature to have with it.
This still looks like some pretty solid Trimpe art! I think I recall reading in his later years his eyesight and health were failing. There were some Guardians of the Galaxy issues he did a few years after this that were rather unpleasant art to look at sadly. But I was fortunate to find some early Hulk issues by Herb in a quarter bin very early in my collecting and always remember him for his prime silver age work.
I did not know that about his eyesight, that blows. I have one old Hulk issue in the personal collection with a cover by him, it's in poop condition, but it is I believe my favorite Hulk I own. Just a classic cover.
While looking for that above comic, I couldn't remember the number so was browsing old covers, found something I now want...
I could be totally erroneous or thinking of someone else... I’m looking over some Trimpe stuff now and he was still drawing a good couple decades after this. I didn’t realize he passed so recently... 2015 I think.
That #130 is one of the quarter box finds I got! Absolutely a classic.

I recommend framing this little thing (see this post https://steemit.com/how-to/@retro-room/how-to-create-beautiful-framed-comic-books-for-just-over-usd1-each), grab a new bag and board for the comic, place the post-it in a corner in the frame by the comic, would be a neat display (or could be sold to a hockey fan).
Zoot ad on the back on the comic had me reading and re-reading because I wasn't exactly sure what they are trying to sell there lol.

Thanks for the frame idea!
