Places that make you feel small and inspired. Bow Lake - Banff, National Park.

Bow Lake in Banff National Park is in my opinion the most photogenic place in the entire area. Some people would vote for Peyto, others Lake Louise - but I always find myself coming back to Bow. The weather is dramatic, there's a great hike up to the falls - or if you're more adventurous you can stay overnight in the Bow Hut (but that takes a bit more planning).

You really can get a sense of the majesty of the Rocky Mountains standing on the edge of Bow lake. A sense of how hard they might have been to cross. It makes you feel - small and inspired at the same time.

I'm glad the Rockies are my backyard.

What places make you feel both small and inspired?

Great photos!

small and inspired:
Great Ocean Road
Bombo Quarry
Major Cities

Thanks much! Yeah - major cities for sure. London, NYC, Tokyo always leave me feeling breathless.

The beauty of Banff and the Rockies that you share are so beautiful and makes one want to visit there

You should! (but in summer)

Yes if it when I make it there probably after I retire in two years I will come during summer

Beautiful photos! Breathtaking!

Thank you so much!

Just beautiful! I have not visited the CanadianR ockies, but have visited the Rockies in Colorado.

I always feel small and insignificant, but also very inspired when I am back in the Scottish Highlands.

I love the Canadian Rockies! I'm a BC girl, and mountains are in my blood, but I appreciate the ocean as well as the mountains for making me feel humble. Big trees, like the Redwoods in California, do much the same. Great post! Go #TeamCanada! (I didn't know there was a Team Canada on Steemit. Yay!)

Oooh the redwoods. For sure!

Beautiful Shot Again. My personal favorite among the three is Peyto. I haven't seen it upclose though , we did hike up and saw the lake from top !

It's tough to get down to Peyto. There is a trail...but you need a bit.

That would be interesting :)

I'm a big fan of reflections. The water looks like a mirror here. Wonderful. :)

Me too! Can't help but shoot them.

Such a great post! I love the mood in your images.

Thank you much!

You're right! Just looking at your photos I could feel that the place is so majestic ... I felt the same thing while climbing up Roraima Tepuy here in Venezuela.

I said "We're so small" like a thousand times on that trip haha

Great shot. That place looks incredible.

Following you too, nice posts and photos

Nice . Where are you based ?

Calgary. U?

I am up in Northern BC at Prince George for this year.

Northern BC....my bro is up that way. Dawson.

Ooooh! Love the reflections.

I do like Bow Lake, and I'm jealous the Rockies are in your backyard! I would throw Moraine Lake into the Banff mix too; it's pretty spectacular if a little too well known. And Assiniboine is in the running for one of the most beautiful hikes in the Rockies...oh, there's so many places! And they all inspire with their vastness and...presence.

But I'm going to say that Iceland has made me feel the smallest...in a good, if spooky and lonely way. In Iceland there are vast unpeopled expanses devoid of large beasts like bear, and yet the land is so alive and in some cases hostile that the feeling is quite different to the Rockies.

I can't wait to get to iceland. One day!

It's well worth the trip some day!
