The actual sunrise was behind me, but not very spectacular. Sometimes you should just turn around when you take photos - many times the photo oportunity behind you is even better than the one you actually wanted 😉

I am not much for early mornings, even in Alaska i miss a lot of the morning sunrise shots, (to cold), but yeah, sometimes it is a good idea to turn around on the dull boring sunrise//sunset and see whats behind. I have seen a few very nice skies that way.

I love to get up as early as possible when I don't have to go to work. So, seeing sunrises is just a matter of good weather and time ;)
