I took these pictures last summer in my home town of Oberdrauburg. When I went out hunting that morning last Summer, armed with the heavy lens (1,930 grams), I was really lucky that this cute roebuck came out of the small woodland the moment I got on the hunter's seat. | Als ich an diesem Morgen im letzten Sommer mit dem schweren Objektiv (1.930 Gramm) bewaffnet auf die Jagd gegangen bin, hatte ich richtiges Glück, dass gerade in dem Moment, als ich auf den Jägersitz gestiegen war, dieser süße Rehbock aus dem kleinen Wäldchen gekommen ist. |

Howdy sir johannpiber! You mean to say that you actually climbed up into that hunting stand and waited for the deer? That deer is lucky you weren't hunting with a rifle!
Yes, I did climb up there, but I did not have to wait long, because right when I sat down the deer jumped out of the forest. I think it has seen me smiling and this is why it didn't run away 😉
You know I could never be a hunter - maybe I could kill an animal if my family wouldn't have anything to eat anymore, but otherwise I'd only watch the animals and take photos, of course 🙂

Yes very true. Although I do a disservice to other animals like birds if I take photos of them because the photos are so bad!
Birds are not easy to photograph. You need much patience, a steady hand and a fast shutterspeed, because birds are so fast moving.

Well if I have the time then patience is no problem but I don't have a good enough lense to bring them up close anyway so I don't try very often.

Oh, I remember that deer, and cool tele lens :) And your first post about it. I remember because.... I dream about tele lens for a long time, and your post run a chain of events ))) I searched the net, undertook a comparative analysis of lenses I like... and then, I decided to sell all - my camera with lenses and buy new 😁😁😁

May I guess? You bought the Sigma 150-600? The Contemporary or the Sports version? The Sports version is even a bit heavier, but faster. If I am right with the lens - what camera did you buy? A mirrorless Canon or Nikon? I love my Canon EOS R, but I cannot say anything against the Nikon Z because I have never had a Nikon myself.

All those lens I picked up were too expensive. And I was unsatisfied with all my old equipment. Photography is such an expensive hobby, you know. 2 years ago dream was to earn money on Steemit and buy new camera. But... it failed.
So I purchased Sony A6400 and 18-135 lens. Yes, it's poor but I gives me time to think where to go next, and it is lightweight - perfect for my lowcost travels

I have never had a Sony, but I have heard they are very good cameras. Last Year I had to make a decision what camera to buy and I decided for the Canon M50 over the Sony A6... I cannot remember which one came out last year. But this camera has been too small for me and I changed to the EOS R. If I had bought the Sony I might have switched to the bigger Sony A7 as well.
So, I do hope and believe you will be happy with your new camera and the lens is certainly great for photographing everywhere 🙂

A long lens is neccessary, of course, because you don't need to get too close to the deer. I see very often roe deer, but most times it is still too dark to take photos, because this lens needs much light that I can shoot hand hold.
I have seen this roebuck once again, but the next times I was there he didn't came out of the woods.

Ich glaube schon - ich esse ganz gerne hin und wieder Wildfleisch, aber selbst schießen? Nein, das könnte ich nicht - braten ja, aber ein Tier töten, ohne dass ich muss? Nein, das könnte ich nicht.
Ich habe gemeint, dass mich das Fotografieren ganz vom Anschauen und Bestaunen dieses schönen und stolzen Tieres abgelenkt hat. Hab mich sicherlich auch falsch ausgedrückt.

Great shots. Wild life photography is not easy. One has to be very patient. The object or subject is never still for longer. By the time you focused you camera, they have moved. 😊 Have a great weekend.
Right, and patiens is one thing I don't have. If I expect so see a deer or rabbit or any other animal or bird I want to see it within a few minutes or I'll move on. I cannot sit for hours and wait. So I am always glad, when I see a deer or other wildlife 😉
And of course, they move - when the light is not bright enoughI don't get the shutterspeed I need, and so the images are not as sharp as possible.
