Nuthatch under rain
Late January 2009, its cold and wet. I'm using my workhorse D300 and Ais 500mm f/4P lens. I also have with me my modified TC1.4x. The converter on the lens gives me 700mm at f/5.6. On the DX sensor thats the equivalent of 1050mm. Thats a lot of telephoto power.
Now unfortunately, some people think that with an expensive telephoto you can win the distance! Wrong, you still need to get close - thats what its all about, unless you get close, you wont be able to get the detail, the 3D effect, the milky OOF backgrounds or the intimate shine on the eye.
SHOOTING DETAILS:
- Nikon D300
- Nikkor Ais 500mm f/4P
- modified teleconverter TC1.4x
- f/11 @ 1/125sec
- ISO 400
- Date taken: 24 January 2009
- Location: Agra, Lesvos Island, Greece
