More Doggy Photography! πŸ• πŸ“Έ Photo Collection Featuring My Sister's Dogs

Just a slight update this time, wanted to add a couple more images before I go play music.

I love the backlit shots like this that you can get late in the day, "golden hour" shots.

Henwen's light-colored fur really lights up when backlit. There was a point where I was taking pictures of both of my sisters dogs when I stopped to ask myself why I photographed Henwen so much more than Neera the husky? -- I realized it was mostly because the of the way the light plays off of Henwen's fur.

The dark fur of Neera the husky doesn't light up the same way no matter what light angles I'm working with.

I was amused by some of these images of Neera's big tongue licking up the puddles on the rocks 😝

Took a few shots of them together, with shallow depth of field. Henwen focused in this shot, Neera background, but...

Only a frame or two later I refocused for almost the same shot with Neera focused in the back, Henwen an out-of-focus pariah dog monster

I was greatly enjoying the blurry background "bokeh" here in the forest on a clear day.

He looks pretty happy, but he's actually panting. He just borked his little doggy ass off making a fuss over encountering other dogs in the woods and had to be held tightly as he repeatedly attempted to lunge toward them and remove his harness.

"Puppy in the Park", my little sister, Mel, mostly cropped out, trying to calm Henwen during out metroparks outing.

Part of the inspiration for taking these collections of doggy shots during my family visit was to show Mel what kind of images she could take of her dogs, with the right camera setup. At the time she ran a very popular instagram page for Henwen, who has a very large following back in India where he came from. She may not continue to run the popular instagram page (@Henwen_the_piggy) but I still wanted to inspire her to get more into photography and take high quality images of her pets.

I wanted to show what kind of images I could take using my Nikon setup, and convince her that she could get even better high quality shots of her pups, in time. She has much more time to photograph them than I did on my holiday visit, and she is much better at getting them to cooperate!

I gave her my Nikon camera setup, so she could take more shots like these of her babies. I'll tell write more about that in a future post, and I also have many more images for a proper Part 2 photo collection. πŸ• πŸ“Έ

Hi @kadoka. Recently I voted for one of your posts about dog photographs. In this group I loved the third and fourth. Shooting and the different focuses is a great lesson for photographers. Congratulations on the excellent use of your camera. A cordial greeting

Since I've spent so much time raving about this camera and showing off the images, I'll post my first amazon affiliate link here for those considering an entry level DSLR camera.

This is the updated version of the camera I used for these shots, that my sister has now: https://amzn.to/2TP9H7U

It's $439 on amazon, which isn't cheap, but it is pretty cheap for a beginner's DSLR camera setup with 2 amazing lenses.

The kit I linked has a lot of useful accessories for about the same price as the camera and both lenses. The 70-300mm lens included is what makes this entry level setup amazing-- anyone considering buying one of these Nikons should get the kit that includes the 70-300mm telephoto lens! A great first DSLR entry level setup, you'll be able to get images like these, and if you haven't had a nice 300mm telephoto lens on a DSLR before you'll be super impressed with the possibilities of this setup! πŸ“Έ

I've spent much more time than I intended to posting here, so I'm gonna go use my inspiration to write some music 🎹🎸🎼

The amazon affiliate link does give me a kickback for recommending the product, but they do not charge you any extra if you use my link. It is the market price for that kit, and a great deal for anyone looking for a cheap first DSLR camera-- in my opinion. I bought an older model with the same lenses and less accessories at Best Buy for the same price last year.

I can say the the Nikon camera bag pictured is great quality too, it even held up in a flash flood storm situation on a day I crossed a river before a storm came, the water rose 5 feet while I was hiking, and I had to swim back across the river and hike 10 miles in a thunderstorm with that camera setup in that camera bag. Everything was miraculously fine, just had to dry it all out, the bag and gear still look and work like new.
