MEET ZÓRA THE CAT! SHE LIKES TO LICK ME!?

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Meowza!

I figured I might as well introduce my cat if I already started out here. Her name is Zóra and she is 6 years old. She is a mixed breed and her origin is unknown. I took her home from my granny's and she was a wild cat.

What's she like?

She has a skinny body type. Although she has been sterilised, she hasn't gain much weight. She looks really fit compared to a lot of other cats I've seen who have had the surgery.

She is a scaredy-cat. Whenever someone new comes to visit, she vanishes for a while. She senses from a mile away if the person coming to visit is someone she knows or not. When she knows a person then she seeks for attention, but she still doesn't let anyone pet or touch her. Not even me...

Although there is one special time of the day when she opens up to me and that is when I go to bed. You see, she as a habit to lick my arm when I'm in bed. She does it for like 10 minutes and that is kind of the only time when she lets me pet herself too.

I was curious about what the licking thing means and so I've read online it may be a sign of affection. It's a memory a cat has from being licked by her own mother, so it can make her feel safe to do so to humans. Cats lick and groom eachother to strenghten their social bonds.

Isn't she a beauty?

The picture below has been my computer wallpaper for 3 years now. ♥

Thanks for the welcome!

I love how you actually used the word "scaredy-cat", you have a really great sense of words, I admire that.

Haha, thanks @jibspark !

Nice to meet Zora! What's her reaction when you call her name?

A purring sound cats make. I don't know how to say it in English, but in estonian it goes like "krrrmeow" :D

That means she recognizes her name..

Lovely cat...

Looks like a Russian Blue - very shy, intelligent, devoted, and beautiful. You're fortunate; almost any cat owner is.

She might look a bit like it, but she is far from it imo. :D

Hmm...that grey color, shape of face, eyes, personality you say...I had a Blue momma and several generations adopt me - we adopted each other, I'm familiar with them. Somebody told me look for faint black rings on tail, might be an indication? We can appreciate cats anyways, even if we don't know their origin. :)
