Continuing the saga of some pretty mushrooms that grow in my garden.....they have now matured yet I still am not certain as to their species.

There are three possibilities...
Smith's Webcap
Cortinarius ahsii

Fringed Crumblecap
Psathyrella candolleana

Orange Stump Mushroom
Naematoloma caprioides

Perhaps you have some idea?

I think they look like someone has stitched the "hem" of the mushrooms in the intermediary stage.

Going through your options:

  • It can't be Cortinarius ahsii, I don't see any remains of the cortina and the spore print color does not match that of Cortinarius (rusty brown).
  • I don't think it's Naematoloma capnoides. The spore print color does not match either, and I don't see any pine or fir needles around.
  • Finally, it matches the ecology and spore print color of Psathyrella candolleana, but I'm not 100% sure that's the right specie, so it could be any other species of the genus Psathyrella.

Thank you for your good feedback. I am inclined to think that it is of the Psathyrella specie, but just not 100% sure. They are so fascinating.

Great post and awesome shots :) I'm also a shroom hunter, Thanks for sharing #keepsteemin
