Revisiting shoots from a year ago w/ Violet Vixen!

Good morning, Steemit! I’m having a coffee at @caffetto, relishing in the fact that today started better than yesterday ended. My emotions have been tied to the cryptocurrency market more than usual, lately. I had a big plans and now I’m consolidating loose singles and change while attempting to book shoots in New York City for next month […something I really didn’t want to do]. A few deposits should be enough to cover the bills, but how can’t I buy STEEM at $1.70?!

I’m here to share new work from two shoots with one of the most patient clients and friends I know. In previous Steemit posts, I’ve shared photos with Miss Violet Vixen. In the few years we’ve known each other, we’ve shot together four times. She is featured several times in @wcpublishing’s Dark Pinup book, and some of my favorite photos of my career are taken of her. In addition to being a beautiful model, she’s an encyclopedia for all things vintage, a world traveler and an exceptional human being.

I’ve recently talked about being very behind with edits. The book project upended my entire life. 8 - 12 hour work days of straight editing were my typical schedule before we began Dark Pinup. Once work on the book began, it was months of curating 17 years of photography, emails, phone calls, model releases, follow ups for model releases, endless correspondence and setting up shoots to fill up the “Proclivities” chapter before going to print.

Violet Vixen was an unfortunate casualty of the priorities the book required. As I spent an hour on the phone with her last night apologizing and thanking her, she was the most patient, understanding friend I could ask for. Life is somewhat getting back to normal and I promised myself […and her] that I would spend the entire day working on backlogged photos from our last two shoots. I’m happy to say I did do that.

These photos are from our sunrise shoot in Las Vegas from Viva Las Vegas, 2017 and New York City at The Gramercy Hotel in July. I did feel a tremendous weight lifted as I opened these folders again. Revisiting images from this long ago is therapeutic, similarly to what I love about sharing them here on Steemit. It’s an opportunity to relive the moments that often get swept up in the madness of travel. In just over 8 hours, I managed to finish six photos. There are still more of Violet Vixen to come, but I feel I was able to right a wrong in my life with a friend that I care so deeply about.

Thanks for reading. For more photography, art, illustration and the stories behind the work, follow me here @kommienezuspadt!

Sounds like a lot of work for the book...
I can imagine reliving those moments by looking at the photos. I have that with old artworks I can feel how it felt at that moment. :)

I'm still waiting too for a better steem rate
...taking forever

Thanks for sharing!

The first pic is just stunning!! Wow! No words to describe.

These are soo gorgeous! I love the high fashion look of that robe against the natural background. I agree, going through old work and photography is definitely something special 👍

Very nice photos. I love this classic feminine look. The backgrounds and colors are just amazing. Keep up the good work :)

The price of Steem is really low @kommienezuspadt 🙈, you wanted to take a break from photography, but you're going to have to follow a little more !. The model is beautiful! on the Viva Las Vegas trip you took really good photos, many hours of work and exhaustion but the result is very nice.
You gave yourself completely to your book, for what little I have known about you since I know it is something that you wanted so much and you worked hard for that, she more than patient, is aware of your priority at that time that was the book but the wait was worth it, very beautiful photos! 😍

As a fan of true blood colors and the compositions of the pictures are really great....

Thank you for your sharing and have a nice day my friend...

ohhh... Excellent !
love it <3

Wow those are really beautiful clicks. What camera do you use?

Love that red and white robe.

The session seems fantastic to me, as always bringing quality work and quite professional, with respect to the steem I think it's time to buy and wait for its price rise, will be an excellent investment! In any way thank you for sharing this beautiful work
