Zero trees, and a view for days..
Hello Steemians! I thought it was about time to post part two of my Ryvarden Lighthouse photos. I shot a lot of photos that day, so it was a bit hard to choose which ones to share with you. Well, here's what I came up with:
If you haven't seen my first part about Ryvarden Lighthouse, you can check it out here. The lighthouse on Ryvardsneset is a famous landmark on the West-coast of Norway. It's not being used as a lighthouse anymore, but there's a café, an art gallary, and if you want you can rent the lighthouse-keeper's house for a couple of nights.
This place has a really special nature. There are barley any trees here, and the rocky landscape is not something I see very often. I live on an island covered in trees, so this open landscape was nice. As you can see, the weather was very gray that day. I'm not a fan of this type of light, but I really wanted to photograph this place while it wasn't much wind or any rain. So, living on the west-coast of Norway, I had to settle with this gray weather. I think I made it work though.
That's the lighthouse. Not exactly what I expected it to look like, but it was nice. A small lighthouse. For all I know, this is what a normal lighthouse looks like. As an amateur photographer, I'm always looking for new things to shoot. And standing next to the lighthouse, looking down on the ocean, I saw the waves smashing up against the rocks, and it was so cool. I really wanted to get a good shot of that. I walked down with my camera, and tried to get a few shots. The waves was a little bit bigger then I first thought, and I was not prepared at all. And it showed on my photography. It did not turn out good.
So, I've decided to try again soon. I've done some research on how to get it right, and I want the lighting to be perfect. I want a sunset, and I know now that I have to use a fast shutter speed to get the shot I want. So, I think I'm ready now. I'm just waiting for the perfect day to get that shot.
When I got back up, my mom waited for me with waffles she had bought at the café. Hiking with someone who wants to take pictures of pretty much everything can be challenging. But she was so patient and understanding, which I appreciate so much.
I think this would be an awesome place to shoot the stars and star trail photography. I've always wanted to do that, and I think I finally have the equipment for it. I tried it once before, but with the wrong lens.
The way these houses are built is really fascinating. Normal woodwork for houses would never stand a chance against the hard weather here. So these houses are built with special material.
I can't wait to go back here and take a million more photos. I had such a great time, and I hope you liked my post!
Kristin.
Nice photos. Indeed, there are no trees around..and the gloomy weather adds up the drama. 😊
