A year ago I was in Colombia and now, I just wanted to share this beautiful pictures with you and report a little bit from a very nice a worthy place to see: Guatapé.

Guatapé is a little City in the northwest of Colombia and in the Province of Antioquia. This place has a hugh artifical lake with a lot of island on it. Among other things the holiday residence from Pablo Escobar.
So we started from Medellin Bus Terminal, from there you have to take a 2hours ride to Guatapé.

As we arrived, we've made our way to "La Piedra de Penol", a 220m high monolith. At that point the hiking begun. You also can ride a horse to go upstairs, but we wanted to hike a little bit in the under 33° sun. The way was totaly okay and we reached the main entrance to "Mirador" the viewing plattform on the Monolith, from where you have a beautiful view over a unique landscape. From downstairs, the steep stairs which where white, reminded us on a fissure on the dark Monolith.

When you make you way to the top, it sometimes go inside the monolith and out. In the inside are some souvenir shops. The 740 stairs where exhausting, but absolutly doable.
On the top you have a amazing panorama view, which you should really not miss.

After that, we went back to Guatapé. Guatapé is such a nice little city, which is so colourful and charming! It was a pleasure to walk trough the streets and just enjoy the sweet atmosphare and drink a nice coffee.
