In Which We Walk Among the Lanterns

This year, we got a new event to attend. The aquarium in Draper, a place we often enjoy going to, played host to a lantern festival, with hundreds of huge and colorful lanterns made to look like creatures found in the sea.

The main attraction was certainly the giant octopus, which guests could walk right under and through.

But the octopus was not the only fantastic lantern creation. I personally loved these little sea turtles, "swimming" among colorful fish and coral.

And there was the cute little seahorse.

Wandering through these oceanic scenes, bright and colorful in the night, eventually led to a series of polar creations, including one of my favorite animals -- the penguin.

That might be as close as I ever get to Antarctica! LOL

Such a fun festival, and the aquarium itself was open to see the actual fish on display. (Not to mention, it was a great chance to warm up!) I hope to find more of these types of festivals in future.

It seems light sculptures has become a new alternative source of income for cultural institutions which would be empty during winter. Here in Warsaw the Royal Palace in Wilanów produces huge light installations in the garden which are massively successful.

Oh, interesting! Would love to see that!
