Over the past several days @wolfcat and I have moved into ever more remote terrain, and we are currently deep in the hills near San Rafael, Antioquia, Colombia.
I will post more on the latest excursion into a place not yet spoken of in guidebooks. For now please enjoy these random glimpses, some rather strange, of life in Colombia.
This Chevy Sprint is the Guatapé pineapple express.🍍
The infamous Alma, stoic amidst the quarry and clouds.
Wheelbarrow planter box.
The loppy-eared bunny cow.
Frog in the flowers.
Mini-dog tied to motorcycle, next to woman with cat on leash.
Man contemplates the metaphor of sheep and man.
Weed, Adidas, Hope?
Noche de las Velitas, (Night of the little candles) December 7th.
We must make our way back from the outer reaches of San Rafael in the next while here, as soon as the rain lets up, but first a bit more time explaining Steemit to our hosts, and perhaps a swim in the river. ;)
Awesome. I totally want to paint the bunny cow!!!
Ahhh, I can totally imagine bunny cow on the canvas! Those big floppy ears and billowing skin. :)
Right! So does that mean I have your official permission to use your picture as a reference image for an oil painting?
Haha, of course! I'm going to try and get another good photo of these cows too, because... You just can't believe how big and floppy their ears are!
This is incredible @lovejoy and @wolfcat!!! @Kindstranger and I will be headed to Bogota on Jan 2! No chance of a meet up.... is there???? <3
Ooooh... sounds amazing. No plans to return to Colombia until possibly March. What are you going to be getting up to in Bogota?
Holy.. Amazing pictures. I would love to see and touch bunny-cow, looks extremely amazing. Just a trip to see this cow in real life would be enough of a reason haha. As for Colombia - it's such a big country, I would definitely need to spend there some more time to explore it all - maybe even about a year and as I believe, that it is not possible financially I will have to divide my staying there to a few periods of few months. Thanks for great report ^^
Haha... That cow! If only she knew what a super-star she is now! Everyone loves the bunny cow :) You know, Colombia is insanely affordable if you're travelling there with USD. We ended up getting a little discount, but for 2 weeks at that Spanish school with room, board, and lessons, it's $350 USD. If you want to rent an entire penthouse apartment in Medellin with 4 bedrooms, you're looking at about $500 / month, and that's in a pretty great neighborhood. One night in a private room in the Eco-lodge at San Rafael was $30, and that was expensive for Colombia. Even the nice hotels in Bogota, one we booked for USD $55 and it was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in, with a full buffet breakfast and free shuttle to the airport. By contrast, they wanted over $100 USD for a dingy hotel near the airport with virtually no ammenities in Iceland. I'm sure you could live for a month, anywhere in Colombia, for USD $800 with everything you need, no problem. If you wanted to go on the cheap, you could certainly manage on the $400-600 end of the spectrum no problem... possibly cheaper if you're crafty. Anyway... what little I saw of Colombia really exceeded my expectations. I hope you have a chance to visit someday. :) Thanks for your comment! Cheers.
Look at you two go! Lovely shots, especially the "loppy-eared bunny cow." ;)
Ha! Thanks. :) I wish I'd gotten a better angle on that cow's HUGE ears...!
Ive never seen a bunny-cow like that before! what a trip haha
Looks incredible!
It was fairly amazing... :) glad you're still keeping an eye on the Steemit world.. we're all waiting for your next post.. ;) <3
Stunning photos! This makes me really want to visit Colombia!
