East Lake High, 20
In this series I've been touring high schools in and around the metro Atlanta area. Poverty and inequality have plagued the South since this country's inception and we're quite far from conquering the problem. What I found on my journey was: a deep contrast of environments and privledges, a younger generation full of bright and enthusiastic young men and women, and a serious need for new infrastructure. Though even in the often cold, utilitarian structures - you find mostly good natured people, doing the best they can with what they have. So I've taken a series of portrait and architecture photography to illustrate the contrast between the two.

I've chosen not to show the names and high schools of the portraits in this series, as to not influence your perception of the young person's character or status.
