Tramming Around Town 2!

in #photography6 years ago

As I walked around the city I couldn’t help but be captured for a few moments by the intricate connecting cables that the trams run off. The overhead wires are used as live circuits and the rails complete the rest of the loop. It’s fascinating how to whole network has been developed and is still in use after all these years. There have been a number of expansions over the years and the network around Geneva saw a great influx in tram use during this era.

As network maintenance and updates occurred, there came a time in 2011 where simplification of would help to solve many commuting issues and help travellers in general. Now there are four main tram routes that cover most of Geneva and they are all denoted by their respective colours. One of the largest networks is line 14, a navy blue line which cover a great distance. I found the Tram experience to be pleasant and I seemed to be able to find a seat throughout the day in Switzerland as I travelled around its busy streets. It felt very much like a hybrid bus and train experience that felt smoother than a vehicle yet quieter than a rail system. The price to travel on trams was modest and I highly recommend getting around by tram when visiting Geneva.
