CASTLE OF KARS- TURKEY

Kars Castle has been built in 1153 with the order of Salt Sultan Melik Izzeddi. The outer castle walls surrounds the city in the 12th century. The castle has been destroyed by Timur in 14.th century. In 16.th century, the castle and exterior walls were rebuilt by Lala Mustafa who came to Kars with the edict of the Ottoman Sultan III. Murad. According to the sources, the walls outside the central fortress are 27,000 meters long and consisted of 220 bastions. The castle is 250 m in the east-west direction. It is approximately 90 m in north-south direction.
