questo è un viaggio attraverso l'Italia. Posterò una foto al giorno con una brevissima descrizione. Spero vi piaccia!
Satriano di Lucania è un borgo della provincia di Potenza, nella regione italiana meridionale della Basilicata. Il borgo è sovrastato dal monte sul quale sorge tutt'oggi l'antica torre normanna di Satrianum. Si sviluppa sulle pendici e le faldi di tre rocce: il Castello, il Piesco e la Madonna della Rocca, che sovrastano letteralmente le rive del fiume Melandro.
Il sito dell'antico Satrianum ha sempre giocato una posizione strategica lungo il sentiero che collegava la costa ionica con le coste del Tirreno, crocevia di popoli e culture anche molto diverse tra loro.
I fenomeni di antropizzazione risalgono all'età del bronzo, con una continuità di occupazione del territorio che risale al primo medioevo. Nel XII secolo si attesta una fase di grande importanza del sito. Infatti in questo secolo l'antica "Pietrafesa" sorgeva su una roccia chiamata "Castello", e insieme a Satrianum faceva parte di un dominio (contado) unico.
Lungo le strade del centro storico si può godere di una varietà di edifici nobiliari risalenti al XVI, XVII e XVIII secolo. Il più importante è il Palazzo Loreti (originariamente del XVIII secolo), ora sede del Municipio.
Lo stesso edificio ospita anche il museo archeologico e il museo della cultura rurale.
Città natale del famoso pittore Giovanni de Gregorio, detto "Pietrafesa" in onore dell'antico nome della città, Satriano è famosa per essere la "capitale italiana meridionale dei murales": dagli anni '80 in poi il centro della cittadina è la patria di 500 murales (e il numero sale di anno in anno) esponendo, sui muri delle case, murales dipinti da artisti di tutta Italia, raccontando la storia, le leggende, personaggi famosi e costumi della gente di Satriano.
L'insieme degli edifici del patrimonio religioso merita di essere visitato.
La chiesa della Madonna dell'Assunta è la più antica costruzione religiosa esistente.
La Chiesa Madre di San Pietro Apostolo fu costruita tra il 1953 e il 1957 sulla vecchia struttura del XVII secolo.
Il carnevale satrianese è uno dei carnevali della tradizione lucana celebrato attraverso le tre maschere tipiche locali: l'eremita, l'orso e la quaresima.
Da vedere: il centro storico, la Rocca Duca di Poggiardo, la Chiesa della Madonna Assunta, la Chiesa Madre di San Pietro Apostolo, la Chiesa della Madonna della Rocca, Palazzo Loreti, Palazzo Pignatelli, il museo archeologico, il museo della cultura rurale.

Satriano di Lucania is a town in the province of Potenza, in the Southern Italian region of Basilicata. It is dominated by mount on which it stands today the ancient Norman tower of Satrianum. Develops on the slopes and the faldi three rocks: the Castle, the Piesco and the Madonna della Rocca, which lie above the shores of the river Melandro.
The site of the ancient Satrianum always played a strategic position along the path that put in connection the ionian coast with Tyrrhenian coasts, a crossroads of peoples and cultures also very different between them. The phenomena of anthropization back to the Bronze Age, with a continuity of occupation of the territory that goes up to the Early Middle Ages. In the XII century abuts a phase of great importance of the site. In the XII century the ancient "Pietrafesa" stood on a rock called "Castle", and together with Satrianum was part of a unique countryside.
Along the streets of the old town one can enjoy a variety of noble buildings dating from the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Special among these is the Palazzo Loreti (originally eighteenth century), now the Municipal Hall. The same building also houses the archaeological museum and the museum of rural culture.
The birthplace of the painter Giovanni de Gregorio, known as “Pietrafesa” after the ancient name of the town, Satriano is famous for being the “Southern Italian murals capital”: from the 1980s onward the center of the small town is indeed home to over 500 murals (and the number goes up and up every year) displaying, on the walls of the houses, murals painted by artists from all over Italy, recounting the history, legends, famous figures and customs of the people of Satriano.
The stock of religious heritage buildings is all worth visiting. The chiesa della Madonna dell’Assunta (church of Our Lady of the Assumption) is the oldest existing religious building. The Chiesa Madre di San Pietro Apostole (mother-church of St. Peter the Apostle) was built between 1953 and 1957 over the old structure from the seventeenth century.
The satrianese Carnival is one of the carnivals of the Lucan tradition is celebrated through the three masks local typical: the hermit, the bear and the Lent.
Thing to see: the historic center, the Castle Duca di Poggiardo, the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the Mother Cchurch of St. Peter the Apostle, the Church of Madonna della Rocca, Loreti Palace, Pignatelli Palace, the archaeological museum, the museum of rural culture.

This is so beautiful. I have not been to Italy in my life, but for what I can see visiting Italy has now become part of my plans in life. Travelling is a great adventure and is a part of education. I am a Nigerian, West Africa and a serving military personnel. I have been to Dar Fur South Sudan 2011 and came back 2012 on military operations. It was really great, seeing the topography of such a large land mass, people way of live, cultures, challenges, religions, situations, and many more two numerous to outlined.
