Ciao a tutti,

Hello everyone,
I began a Photo Journey through Italy. I will post one photo every day with a little note of explanation. I hope you like it!

Gropparello is a small town in the province of Piacenza, in the Northern Italian region of Emilia Romagna. Surrounded by the green Vezzeno Valley, it rises on a territory including various landscapes: mountains over 1000 mt high, wide woods, and low hills that seem a balcony over the Po River plan (Pianura Padana). It is best known for its Castle.

The story of the village is deeply connected to the story of the castle. Built on a rocky peak entering the village, is a typical example of medieval fortress placed in defence of the valley.

The Castle dates back to the VIII century, and was granted by Charlemagne to the bishop of Piacenza in IX century. During the fights between Guelfi and Ghibellini was attacked and besieged. It was then handed over to several families, among whom Pallavicino, Sforza and Campofregoso. The fief was at its best under the Anguissola family .

With its irregular plan the castle represents one of the most remarkable examples of medieval fortress.

The surrounding wood hosts the “Fairy tales Park”, Parco delle Fiabe, where children learn playing. The children, dressed up as ladies and knights, create stories and fairy tales, they experience in an emotional way everyday life in the Middle Age.

It is also possible to eat a medieval meal inside the Castle. The Medieval Tavern suggests unforgettable medieval costume banquets; it is set with its fable atmosphere with dishes from the ancient tradition too.

Gropparello Castle has also a ghost: the legend tells that in XIII century Pietrone da Cagnano, lord of the fortress, walled up alive for revenge his young wife Rosania Fulgosio. She was guilty because she had betrayed him with Lancillotto Bracciforte, captain of the Pallavicino army.

In the heart of the village you can see also the neo-Gothic Church of Saint Maria Assunta built in 1920 and the War Memorial, made by the famous sculptor Sergio Brizzolesi.

Thing to see: the Historical center, the Castle, the “Fairy tales Park”, the Church of Saint Maria Assunta, the War Memorial, the Medieval Tavern.

arghhh che meraviglia! (di foto e di posto!)

Grazie! E visto che ti piacciono i fiori, non ti dico che grande varietà di bellissimi fiori si possono ammirare all'interno e all'esterno del castello!

dear @miti
is this a real photos or a photoshop.
seems like photoshop

It is a real photo photoshopped.

Looks amazing I definitely want to visit the castles you’ve posted! I didn’t realize there were so many in Italy. I only knew of the one| vicino a (or is it del?) citta di vaticano (inserting some Italian I can formulate properly!) that the pope would escape to in war times. San Angelo is the castle I think.

You're right, you're talking about Castel Sant'Angelo which is close to Città del Vaticano.

Friend miti ... I fell in love with these photos, what a beautiful, wonderful, spectacular place ... I would really like to visit Groparello. The photos are lovely.

Finally I discovered what was wrong with my steemauto. Today I was very early out of home doing a stagecoach and just arrived (it's already night) and if it worked, I already made several automatic votes ... I had a configuration that would stop voting 100% and was deactivated, so I set the stop 70% and the votes I put at 15% ... Do you think I get some curatorship if I have 23 SP and place the vote at 15%? (I hope you understand the question ... is that I use google to translate it into English and sometimes It change the words, I speak Spanish)

Que hermosa foto, Maravilloso lugar. Felicitaciones!

I do only 1 post a day nd lots of comments in a day ..
Is this right or wrong ?

Who does not like to see the natural scene. Everyone wants to visit the beautiful places of the world. We have become mechanical to see ourselves the buildings of the brick-cement-stone buildings around us. Difficulty in nesting the house. So maybe our mechanical city, where there is a lot of opportunities, as well as our sightseeing. Because we are naturally comfortable. Now we do not go to enjoy the wonderful landscapes at any place of trouble, where we have to face many problems. And that is why we go beyond our sights, some of the wonderful places in the world.
