Sometimes you don’t need to do anything to give your photos new dimensions.

Industrial environments help do this. Because though they are familiar, at the same time their vastness creates strangeness—making the familiar seem unfamiliar.

I don’t think it’s random that many fashion shoots are done at abandoned warehouses and factories!

Can you guess what the photo is of?

A shooting range!

Don’t worry if you’ve never been to a shooting range—the point is that the space is similar to many places you do visit often (like a garage, or food store), and yet its minimalism gives an aura of being somewhere very very strange.

And now you know one of my secrets: that I’m a girl that likes shooting ranges! :D

Do you?

This is superb advice. I do this project where I write my poems on people's bodies (and I've started to paint too). As a beginning photographer--taking pictures to document what I've done-- most of the advice I get is technically helpful--rule of thirds, this and that, but this is the first thing I have read/heard that gives some advice on the photographic EYE. I will be thinking of this everytime I take a picture, not only because it is spectacular advice, but because you've encapsulated the precise idea so well in so few words.
