Photographs taken at the historic Mooney Memorial Fountain on Eagle Street. Constructed from 1878 from sandstone, marble and granite. The history behind this monument is a memorial for James Mooney, a firefighter that had lost his life in the line of duty in 1877.
These lions heads that 'guard' the memorial are made from marble.
Actually, this is a tap, but it is a great art value and a perfect tap. I wish all the taps were like this.
According to the Latin definition and origination it's a fountain. But a very valuable historic piece absolutely!
An extremely valuable historical monument. And thank you very much for taking a photo of it and sharing it.@monist
