Without water we can not exist. The body can survive weeks without solid food but only days without water. Our bodyconsists mainly of water, the basic for physiological reactions and metabolic support. Thus, in order to keep fit and healthy we should provide to our body the amount of water that it requires daily to avoid dehydration. Our body is composed of about 70 % water, the brain - of 90 % . Approximately 80 % of the weight of the human body is water. Water carries nutrients to all organs, the nervous feeds, ensuring capacity and reproductive functioning of all cells, helps blood and lymph to fulfill the "mission" and regulates body temperature.
Water is more than just a simple mixture of hydrogen and oxygen molecules, it is the source of all life. Human beings can go on for days, even weeks, without food but can die in a matter of days without water. Although water is crucial to survival, it is potentially destructive. There have been countless stories of people drowning and entire towns being engulfed in water. Through color, symbolism, and imagery, water is depicted as something necessary yet potentially detrimental to life.
Water is the substance of the body fluids: digestive juices, blood, urine, lymph, sweat, etc. Water also plays an important role in the dissolution and transport of various nutrients such as vitamins, minerals or carbohydrates and oxygen and contributes the elimination of toxins through the kidneys, intestines, skin and lungs.
The minimum amount of water necessary for the human body is 5 liters in 24 hours, of which about 2 liters are for water consumption. We lose, on average, about 2 liters of water and would normally have to replace, i.e. daily drink at least 2 liters of water. The practice of physical and sporting activities, or exposure to high temperatures in dry atmosphere (mainly due to air conditioning), requires a higher consumption of liquids than for individuals with a static activity and if consuming alcohol, coffee, sweets are salty foods, it is necessary to confer extra water.
