I've been trying again to capture a decent image of my iris. This time I'm using the Nikon P900 with the Raynox DCR-250 Macro Attachment.
I can certainly get closer now, but the image is a little soft and grainy as I ramped the ISO up to maximum to get a short shutter speed. Next time I'll see if I can get any more light so that I can drop the ISO setting.
This is just insane! I love it!
Wow thats a lot of detail you captured
Beautiful shot. Love it! Thank you :)
That is amazing. How did you take it with the Nikon without having your reflection in the pupil?
If you brighten up the image, you'll see the reflection of the camera in the pupil :-)
If you use hard light from the side such as an off camera flash, you'll be able to see more detail in the ridges of the iris, you'll also be able to get rid of some of the grain and have greater DOF with brighter light.
I've taken a similar shot but it was a while ago and before I bought my macro lens... time to redo it. :)
I did have a light from the side, but it wasn't an external flash as I don't have one, just a bright desk lamp. Wish my equipment fund was bigger! :)
I'm not an expert on photography but even then, I think this is an amazing picture.
