Black and White experimental Photography

in #photography3 years ago

Dear Hive Community,

after a while i found time to pick up my new hobby of photography. I am still new to this but i have a lot fun doing it and trying out new Technics to learn more about taking nice Pictures. Today we went on a bike trip to a nearby Monastery and i took the opportunity to shoot some Black and White Pictures. The pictures came out quite experimental and artistic. So i decided to share my favorite shots of to day with you.

At the moment we have the dark and cloudy weather here in Germany. i believe in Black and White Pictures you can pretty catch the mood of these days.

first i tried some long exposure from a highway bridge. Unfortunately was it not so busy on the the highway, so there are not many cars to get a good light effect.

On our Way to the Monastery we passed by some fields and the close by Power-plant is almost always in sight. Here we saw some goose searching the field for food. The Power-lines follow our way to the Monastery, which i think is a quite interesting Motive but i will tell you later why i think so.

We arrived at the Monastery in the late afternoon. I could not find to much what i would like to photograph here but i share some impressions here with you.

This building used to be a Mill to produce Flour. The City keeps it well maintained and every now and then they start the old Mill to produce Flour like they did back in the days.

Here you can see where the Water runs the big wheels to turn the grinding stone.

You can find old Statues all over the place, here just a couple of them. They all perform different task which probably resembles the work of the Monks which used to lived here.

This last shot of the Monastery was taken from a corner in the "Backyard". Here they grew all their Fruits and Vegetables. Today it is still Maintained and you can find a wide variety of Fruits, Vegetables and Herbs here. Of course there is not much to see here now in the Winter time.

On our way back we passed by the power-lines again. And this time they have been occupied with a bunch of Crows so of course i need to take a picture of it. Unfortunately is the quality because of the distance and the lag of light not the best. But i do like the structure of this things it reminds me of the Eiffel tower and has something fascinating to it. The first shot is showing a bit more of the structure.
P1030184.JPG
On the second shot i zoomed in more, to get a better shot of the Crows. I like how the cable go through the picture, almost splitting the picture in several parts.
P1030183.JPG
In the third shot, i zoomed in even more but this i actually my favorite shot. Even if the quality is bad i really like the birds sitting all in a row with their heads turned in different directions and again the straight cable cutting the picture in peaces. I wish i head a better Camera for this one.

As we continued our way back we had to cross a relatively wide River over a bridge with a barrage which produce a very strong current. A perfect time to play around with long exposure pictures.

i really liked that one better in color so here its is. Let me know which one you like better.

Very beautiful shots, I love the zoom on the birds.

Thank you for your nice comment. That's actually also my favorite too. I just wish the quality was a little bit better. But I'm still happy with it. I hope I can practice more in the future to share it here.

It is nice to hear that you are maintaining the old fashioned Mill for making the flour.

And, all pictures are good.
