Before the end of this years flyfishing season, my Brother and me decided to take advantage of the last sunny days and have a visit to one of our favorites spots for flyfishing in Germany.
We get up early that day and drove to a remote valley in the state of Hessen. There is a quite small but also quite famous river for Flyfishing.
Here you can catch Trouts, Graylings and Chubs. Unfortunately is the water-level, due the lag of rain this year, very low.
So there have not been to much activity in the Water this time. But just being out there in the nature is an relaxing and grounding experience which i want to share with you in this post.
We made our way through a meadow to reach our first spot.
On this spot the river passes a village where you can still find signs of the industry which was done here in the past. Now this buildings form a new living environment.
Here you can see the low water-level, usually the rocks are all covered by water.
We only caught few fish here and all were small Greylings. Because we didn't see much activity after that, we decided to take a short drive to another spot.
This second spot is outside the village and very countryside. Again we have to cross a meadow and we were surprised by a lot of wild autumn crocus.
Then we arrived on a promising spot where we have been successful before. We decided to have a little break before we continue
Our fishing routes
While we eat our lunch we discovered a huge boletus mushroom. Check it out!
We also saw a reasonable fish rushing by as we observed the river. Now we were sure there must be something to catch and we tried our luck.
After a while being quite and constantly throwing our bait (a Nymph in this case) i finally felt a bite and i caught this beauty.
It was definitely the catch of the day.
My Brother caught another smaller trout shortly after this one. But then we decided to move on to find another spot.
We walked up the river enjoying the nature
We tried out some other spots but haven't caught anything besides some nice impressions of this wonderful place.
After almost 8 hours we decided to leave and go back home. We are lucky to still have spots like this around here and i am looking forward to come here again next year.
Until now, we leave the Trouts, Graylings, Chubs, Grasshoppers and all the other amazing creatures alone.
Luckily, the flyfishing season is still open in Austria! We will Go there next month and i am very excited about it! Lets hope i can catch some nice pictures there to share with you! Maybe even with a new and better camera :)
