Dear Hive Community,
my Mom is a proudly owner of a Bee Hotel. Because now it is spring time, the Hotel gets quite busy with wild bee´s and other residents. I tried to capture some pictures of what is going on in that Hotel.
And of course i want to share some of that with you.
The warm midday sun allure the inhabitants and and other curious creatures
Some are checking out the free apartments
Others are knocking on the wrong door and even have fighting about for their accommodation
But this occupant is not easy to convince and does not want any flatmate
No reason to worry, the Hotel has plenty space for all customers! Just look around
This spot i a bit dark unfortunately
There was a great demand for this particular spot, many Bees have been looking curious inside
carefully putting the antennas inside to see if someone is at home
After a couple more tests...
someone was brave enough to have a peak
I attempted to capture a bit of the inside of the apartments for you
Does it not look comfy?
Though, be careful! You might have neighbors!
I discovered some of the Bees on the ground in front of the Hotel
I am not quite sure what they are doing there, i might recommend them to take a private room in my Mom´s Hotel next time
That strange bright looking dots, which you can see on the body of the Bee on the top, are not eggs! This are actually mites.
After the top Bee was done, he left the poor bottom Bee on the ground and it probably left some mite as well.
Poor Bee. Eventually it flew happily away ( I guess...)
On the last picture can you see a Bee which has a heavy mite infestation. Luckily are this mites not harmful for the Bee´s. The Mites uses the Bees as host to get carried to the Bee´s nest where they can reproduce. Anyways, it does not look pretty
I hope enjoyed this short story of my Mom´s Bee Hotel. I also would like to encourage you to become a Hotel owner too! It is very interesting to watch this little fellows and you can help them out a little bit.
