Dear friends! Welcome to today’s episode of
"Capturing the World".
"Capturing the World".
I went to Italy a few weeks ago and checked out Cinque Terre. The place is unbelievably picturesque and beautiful and I will make a proper post about my journey there soon.
Today’s picture is my first attempt at star trail photography. It was combined of one base layer (quite a bright exposure) plus 75 consecutive images (30s exposures) to create the star trails. Enjoy!
keep wandering and wondering,
Love,
mr.wonderlust

Cinque Terre is lovely! ;)
yes, it is
We were in Vernazza last week too :) made a post as well. Yours is nice!
definitely gonna check yours, thanks!
Wow, it's so beautiful!!
thank you very much, I stood 4 hours at one spot (pretty cold back then) and edited another 5h, so the work had to result in a picture I love. Still not perfect though, next one has to be better ;-)
Patient always have a good result! :)
Do you mind letting us know the name of the town in the picture?? Beautiful shot by the way :))
The name is Vernazza, thanks a lot :-)
Isn't that Monterosso in the distance? Was there last summer - Awesome part of the world to visit for sure. Great photo
My photo of Vernazza by day - and sea level:
June, 2016
yes it is, one of the 5 little villages - thank you !
This is soooo beautiful 😍😍😍😍
thank youuuu :-)
The base layer was for the town and land right? how did you combine the 75?
Like this one .
correct, the other ones were compined as layers in photoshop with the enlighten mode
Wow great setup for the pic, the trails are a bit fragmented (on close inspection) but otherwise amazing!
Astrophotography can be tricky, I've never had much success myself (too much noise on the ISO I had to use for my camera.
thanks for your critique! I know they are a bit fragmented and you know why? Because I simply used my cameras timer to take the pictures automatically. The minimal time between two shots is 1s which is already long enough to get the stars fragmented, as crazy as that sounds. I was really shocked when I first saw that, but it was my first try, next time I'll need to figure out something else...
Yeah may need the manual shutter open close to go longer than 30 amd fix that, I never used that function because I didn't have a remote and touching the camera to open/close the shutter would blur it.
Best of luck in future, can't wait for your next shots!
hey, I dont want to make the exposure longer than 30 seconds. I prefer stacking. The problem with my camera is that I havent figured out a way to make it keep taking pictures without breaks of 1s yet.... If you wonder why I prefer stacking, here is an explanation: http://galleries.aaronpriestphoto.com/Articles/StarTrails
It a great time lapse photo @mrwanderlust
The heavens are truly amazing to look at.
happy to hear that, thank you very much
Das sieht ja mal geil aus..super gemacht mein Freund..muss ich mir merken für einen Zwischenstopp nach Sizilien
vielen Dank. Ja, dahin musst du auf jeden Fall, poste bald noch mehr aus Cinque Terre...
Wow!! I just love star trails! This is amazing man 😍
thanks, not there yet though...
Whaaaat? This is super amazing. I tried this (ok, quite a number of years ago) and it wasn't even close to as good as this!!
