The dramatic photographs show a rare firehose lava flow as it rushes out from a cliffside and falls 300m into the Pacific ocean.
Thousands of tons of lava streamed steady from the Kilauea volcano out of a hole in the cliff side at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Dr Dhilung Kirat, 34, captured the phenomenon, saw debris, caused from explosive reactions when the hot lava entered the cold sea, reach the cliff top. "It was very surreal to see this. It sounded like a landside or an avalanche," he said.
