You're welcome @tanyehwen, I had fun doing it. If you want to get a DSLR get one! It doesn't have to be the top of the line camera, and shouldn't really if you're just starting, but even the most basic DSLR will give you much more control over what kind of pictures you can take. In fact, that is the primary reason I bought my first DSLR, couldn't get the damn flower to stay in focus with the point-and-shoot camera!

Point appreciated and noted! I think there's something about DSLRs that make people hesitate - apart from price, it makes people go like, "Can I really do this?" Especially if they look at people who have those state-of-the-art cameras hahaha.
If you want to save money on the camera, get a slightly used one or new but last year's model, when a new camera on the same series comes out, the previous model is usually heavily discounted.
Also, just do it! :)
