Blackberry bushes and friends

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Blackberry bushes provide protection, shelter, and food to many insects. Here are a few photos I made within a short time looking at these bushes (and wondering when their fruit would be ripe so they could feed me as well):

A large skipper (Ochlodes sylvanus), groot dikkopje in Dutch, having lunch:

A grasshopper of unknown make and model:

A small heath (Coenonympha pamphilus), hooibeestje in Dutch:

This comma (Polygonia c-album), gehakkelde aurelia in Dutch, had just finished eating and was warming up in the grass:

I also noticed that some of the blackberry bushes deeper into the peat bog had very pink flowers, which is unusual:

I wonder what causes this colour difference.

Thanks for watching!

Very nice Pictures 👍

Thank you.

I would expect lack of light would make the colors darker, which is the case with leaves, having more chlorophyll.

those are great close up photos!!

Thanks!

as always very good macro shots ;)
enjoy your day! :)

Kupu - kupu yang cantik @ocrdu

Terima kasih!

Beautiful shots

Awesome, they are so fascinating

I don't look near as pretty as that skipper when I'm having lunch.

I look more like this:

These skippers also don't explode 8-).

Nice shots as always.

Thank you.

Your images are gorgeous! I really enjoyed your captures.

Thanks!

I like your photos too.

Very bright butterfly!

En deze ook! Prachtig! 😀

Up close and personal, I love to see the fine details you are showing me! So nice of you to provide an open-air buffet! My bushes got invaded by Japanese beetles, but, not before I could pick enough fruit to make jam. Wonderful photography! Resteemed. Out of voting power! :(

Thanks!

The blackberry bushes are in the local peatbog near my home town, I don't have them in my garden, I would eat them all myself anyway 8-).

Hehe! Natuurlijk!! :-)

Skippers are the cutest of all the butterflies! I fall for them every time I see a closeup photo! I don't know why some blackberry flowers are pink. Some of mine are like that, too. Has it been unusually cool in your area? Our nights have been cool, and some plants do get more purple with cooler weather. But I'm just guessing at that -- really I have no idea!

Skippers are really cute, yes. I'll post two more for you.
