Rowena Crest Viewpoint is located in the Tom McCall Preserve on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. You access it by taking old highway 30. I love taking the road less traveled and the pieces of highway 30 that weren't over taken by the interstate are pretty special. A trip into the gorge on this road back in the '20s must have been quite an adventure.
This shot is looking northeast across the river to the Washington side. This area is kind of in the transition zone between the wet side of the region to the dry side.
Looking east up the river toward The Dalles, Oregon. The small community of Rowena is down by the interstate on the right side.
Looking north across the river to the small town of Lyle, Washington. The mouth of the Klickitat River can be seen left of the town.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures and thank you for looking!
Photos taken by me using a Nikon D3300 with some Lightroom editing.
I am fascinated by seeing such a beautiful scene in the mountains.
