Countryside

in #photography7 years ago

Slovenia is a green country. A lot of forests, fields, and pastures but also a lot of rain.

Probably that's why is so green.

I'll show you some typical landscapes from the Western part.

It's good to change the topic from time to time and this post is just about that. To clear our mind with pure nature without monuments, big buildings, and crowded streets.

Listening birds singing and sipping the morning coffee by this pond was incomparable to busy restaurants on La Rambla street in Barcelona.

20180426_091050.jpg

Ownes of the place where we spent five days did a great job preserving some history. The pond was a part of the mill where their ancestors were grinding corn and wheat. They keep some old equipment like this millstone.

You can still drink fresh natural water from every spring or creek in this area.

20180424_2115271.jpg

The small village high in the hills.

20180428_1134391.jpg

And another in the valley by the Soca river.

20180430_1119441.jpg

Well, here is the river and The Napoleon's bridge. Yes, even Napoleon was here. Not for long tho.

20180426_115947.jpg

And Italians too. They like to build this kind of stuff all over the place in the First world war. The important front was running through these places. More than one million casualties.

For what purpose?

20180424_2119541.jpg

One day we finished our trip in the small town called Cerkno. In the nice family restaurant.

20180424_2144211.jpg

It was kid friendly, with a lot of playground equipment.

20180424_2200431.jpg

And also very stomach friendly.

The famous national dish called Idrijski žlikrofi. With pork chops in pepper sauce and fresh vegetables.

Never visit Cerkno or Idrija without trying this.

Don't say beautiful tree, because is not.

We miss a turn because navigation couldn't keep the pace with sharp curves and narrow gravel roads. And we were rewarded with this masterpiece.

No sign or well-known name on the bottom.

It's a simple pillar built of stones by an unknown local farmer and overgrown by ivy.

With open eyes and mind, you can find art on every step.

Keep your eyes open, my friends. Life is short.

Nature is more than I enjoy. In particular, this brick wood captured from a busy mechanical life of a fictitious camera might have taken us some time to nature.

Beautiful countryside... I love the color of the water in the river. The restaurant looked fun with a colorful woodpile and delicious food. I've never had this dish but I love pepper. The stone tree was a interesting find!

It was a green, green time in Slovenia last month.

Especially so for those of us participating in a tourism-themed “Global Green Destinations” conference. We learned about “Green Solutions” and the “Slovenia Green” program and “Green Experiences,” and we did it all in Europe’s official Green City for 2016: Ljubljana, the country’s capital. Even the castle-fort that overlooks the historic old town was awash in celebratory green nighttime lighting.

Amazing scenes

Thank you so much for sharing. I know little of your country but it is truly beautiful. I hope one day to travel all around Europe again, so thank you so much for this article.

@odltimer

That is actually extremely beautiful. Even the water is green lol

nature is perfect and the air is very fresh @oldtimer dear

Amazing shots that feed the eyes

Thank you for the post, and for making me hungry at the sight of Idrijski žlikrofi...lol. I did a quick search online and found a recipe just in case it's not served in any of the Eastern European restaurants here in Ottawa. Sometimes if you want something bad enough, you have to do it yourself. ;)

Also, the pictures are gorgeous, and have sparked a curiosity about Slovenia.

Nature at best through your lenses @oldtimer quite majestic slovenia seen through yor eyes...thanks for sharing this..👍

Wow... Amazing and peefect.@oldtimer

Since joining Steemit I've added Slovenia to my "must visit" places @oldtimer. It looks very beautiful form all the photographs I've seen.

Priroda je nestvarno lepa, sve je tu. Reka, planine, zelenilo, bršljan, mahovina, spokoj, ptice, cvetovi…

Beautiful scenery of beautiful results. photo the natural beauty that has brought you to get a beautiful dream every night. You are a very lucky person, because you have seen what I can not see in my life.I have never seen this scene it's amazing. Thank you guys for sharing, I hope someday to visit such a beautiful place even if it is not possible for me.
Thanks for this @oldtimer

Such a beautiful place. Never been to Slovenia, but these green hills and blue rivers seem really inviting. I have always admired the lake with the little island that has a castle one it and mountains on the background, what was its name again?

Thanks for reminding that I need to add Slovenia to my bucket list!
