The Conehead Katydid!
After finding that Common True Katydid the other day we came upon a member of the Neoconocephalus genus of Katydids.
The Neoconocephalus genus of Katydids are the ones commonly referred to as “Conehead” Katydids. You can see the elongated head and black tip in the photo above. You may also notice the long ovipositor protruding from the rear of the Katydid. This is the organ that they use to deposit eggs. Because of the shape of this organ on some species, they are commonly called “sword bearing.”
Eventually this beautiful creature would up as chicken food. (Circle of life…) At least I captured some great photos of it first. Enjoy!
Cute face, huh?
here's the proof:As always, I'm @papa-pepper and
proof-of-sword-bearing-conehead-katydid
Great shots and such an interesting character it is, a see the Cone head part, but that face is one only a mother would LOve lOL
Upvoted at 100% to encourage real comments on steemit. Thanks for actually looking at my post and making a relevant comment. (Also, I have a gift for you, but you will have to wait...)
Thanks @tattoodjay!
WOW thanks truly appreciated and so kind of you, I just find cut and pasted or generic comments on my post a waste of their time and mine.
so I try to actually read posts if I am going to comment and commenting based on the content of the post
I decided on day one on here to focus on finding interesting content and becoming part of the community, unlike many who seem to focus on making easy money on here.
I plan to just slowly do what I do and build up friends on here, if down the line I make a bit of money that would be a bonus but wont be my focus
Cool! That is the right attitude. I know that you will like the gift I got you, just be patient and I'll reveal it soon.
Ohh I forgot you mentioned a gift I am intrigued now LOL but also Patient :)
Cheers
Really like your comment - followed you @tatoodjay

Good picture, grasshopper looks very perfect. I love it. This is the best animal posting in today. Thank you for sharing for all of us.
It was a hard one to get in focus, because it is so long, even its head. Thanks for appreciating it!
The mantis are very pretty. Good post
Katydid, similar in ways to a Mantis, but still pretty.
extraordinary. Good post, you must be a professional photographer. Although we see this common grasshopper but after we see the picture you portrait is really surprising all interesting
Yes, a good photo can make something common look amazing, and something small very interesting up close.
I am no professional, but I am trying to take good photos to share.
A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed @@@ Great Job !!!
Very beautiful and interesting.
Your name is also interesting. Did you know that there is a @gavvet here on steemit?
I tried to see the eye in first two picture and then you let me see it in forth, thanks to have a close view of his eye.

Now if that was in a tree it could hide as just another leaf.

As for the camera, you can read more about it here: https://steemit.com/photography/@papa-pepper/a-broken-camera-and-the-steem-powered-solution

Are they from ... France LOL, old Saturday Night Live reference.
It must be old, I do not recall! Hey, one of our hogs gave birth today! That was a surprise!
How many little piglets? Do you name them? In my family the fledglings always name the critter no matter how large or small. lol
Lovely shots, sure the creature was so much relax enjoying your company...much love
It hopped around quite a bit, but I kept following it. Thanks @detycoon!
This is ....not ugly , the opposite you would expect from a bug :D
It is a really peculiar creature, and I have always enjoyed them. Thank you!
nice post...Very interesting photos, unique wild locusts, usually live on plantations and under prairie.
Thank you @zacly!
Those are some killer pics @papa-pepper! The fourth pic. looks like MR. Cone Head is ready to attack the cam. (LOL) Loved all the pics amigo. Thanks for sharing and awesome proof pic! Cheers mate!

It is a fun way to verify my work and make people smile!
Woww, incredibly beautiful post, I really like it @papa-pepper
Amaizing shots dude.
:)
This creature makes my wife's shivering :)
I hope she didn't found one of those here in our area.
Love your posts man!
Keep doing a great work.
Usually they hop or fly away, so your wife should not fear.
Believe me, this bug don't need more than that to do it.
Except that they do bite. I found out the hard way.
👍👍👍👍👍
We also have a version in South Africa, but it is nothing as fancy as yours! I believe that there are no ugly creatures and that all life is sacred! Although, as you stated, in the animal kingdom things work differently in their " Circle of life" They kill to eat! In the human kingdom, we kill each other due to greed and hatred! Great post and Upvoted!
Nice Photo
Nice photos friend!
Amazing photos. You have a new follower...me!
Seriously though, great shots.
Great shots, good to see other photographers out in the field capturing nature at its finest :) Keep up the good work!
Good photography. Please give a upvote here or @bikash-tutor
We also found a Genus Neoconocephalus, known as a Common Coneheads!
Very cool! They do come in other colors (though mostly brown and green).
Some other katydids come in yellow and pink too.
I once did a post with a yellow one and a green one. I called them "Lemon" and "Lime."
