Dragonfly! My first blue of the season!

Patience and persistence is the name of the game when you hunt these little aviators! Countless times have I taken great care to set up a shot, only to click and to find an empty seat!
But I love stalking and followed this guy and he appreciated my dumb efforts so much that he took pity on me and posed for a couple of shots.

It was really an experience to follow this little guy around the dam and I hope that you will like this exceptional little flyer! Something to share, his 4 wings can all operate independently in all directions and that's why they are so nimble in flight! I just wish they would sit more Lol.
Besides hunting them it is also good for one's fitness as I must have walked around the entire dam about 10 times!
You are encouraged to take up Dragonfly hunting not only for their beauty and the fun, but also for your own good health!
Think about it!

Nice photography, Dragon color is so attractive

Thank you and oh yes, we have a wide variety of colors, but it is still early in the season. Blessings!

So beautiful! :o
And yeah, patience and persistence is good in anything in life :)

Absolutely agreed! I'm still old school and it has always worked for me! None of today's quick fixes and instant gratification works for me! Blessings!

Wow! So, nice capture. Sir

Glad you liked it! Thank you and blessings to you!

I didn't know it could exist dragonflys of that color, it's cute.

Thank you! We have many colors here in South Africa! Blessings!

They are amazing creatures. We get some fairly big specimens around us. Great pictures

That they are Sir Steve! Six "Anisoptera" (Dragonfly) families exist in South Africa! The fairly big ones you mention belongs to the "Aeshnidae" family of which the "Emperor" is the biggest one! I have a few of them in my collection and are sure to get more, as the season is only now starting! Glad that you like the pictures! Blessings!

Amazing! In fact, I was just sketching a dragonfly this morning. The detail you've captured in these wings is as crystal clear as any I've seen. I've chased a few dragonflies with my camera before, and no luck! :) You've got real artistry, my friend. I'm upping and resteeming.

Thank you! As you might know, this is a charity page and we thank you for your kind support! I also have a great love for nature and I promote both of my loves, charity and nature on our page! Hope the detail in the wings can assist you with your sketching? Like I said, it takes patience and perseverance to hunt these beauties! Blessings!

What lovely shots you managed to get, lovely colour ours are mostly brown @papilloncharity

They never sit for very long so appreciate the time spent getting it right.

Thank you Lady Joan, my favorite place to hunt them are in wetlands, preferably also with a dam in the area! The trick is to snap them as they sit and believe me, I have lost many battles to snap them! Glad you liked the shots! Blessings!

Really amazing shots and of course a very noble and energetic pursuit indeed. Keep it up so that we might enjoy your efforts!

Thank you for the kind words Lady Donna and you will find many shots of nature on our page! I am told that they are mostly great quality and you will also find posts about our actual charity work with the poor in our country! Blessings! Stephen
