I went on a mild urban hike this morning, and found this stem of buds and a few flowers growing on a wooded trail next to a lake. It was tiny so I used a reversed 28mm lens at f/11 or so. The shorter the focal length of your lens, the larger the macro effect when you reverse it! Click the image for a larger one.

Cool ! you also love hiking ?
Once in a while, and sometimes a wooded trail is too hard to pass up.
I was thinking of doing this with my lens since I can't find my iphone macro lens (ordered a new one, they're really cheap) and I don't have a 'real' macro lens!
These closeup shots take you into a different world!
This is film?
Digital SLR this time
Coo, wasn't sure, the grain was throwing me off, probably from the reversing?
Probably from the ancient-by-digital-standards camera ;) Shot with a D40.
What does it mean to "reverse" your lens?
You get cheap reverse mounts for many lenses and literally mount the lens backwards. But when you do this you will not be able to use Auto focus features and will have to manually shoot the image. It's quite fun and this can produce some great results. Reverse mounts come cheap although it's best done on cheap lenses as reversing would expose the inner portions of the lens to the elements unlike when it's mounted normally. :)

That's sweet....I'm going to now need to look into the reverse macro effect.
Only in one hour with the photo you get the $727 , you are indeed very lucky @pfunk

While I'm at it, I'm feeling similarly: https://steemit.com/japan/@noelletwine/the-hidden-japan-you-never-hear-about
I'm not gonna downvote because I sympathize that it's hard to get a foothold here now, but in general I don't appreciate when people advertise their posts in the comments of mine, unless it's related to the post at hand.
I have to reply to this because the comments cant be nested more than 6 deep.
It's all good man, I'm following your blog now, so whenever the curated page gets implemented I'll see your stuff. Actually steemstats.com shows a list of posts from followed people now, and I'm starting to use it more.
Beautiful! The detail you captured is remarkable. Such a delicate structure. I wonder what the actual size of the flower is and how much of this detail would even be visable to the naked eye?
Nice one!
Thanks
Hard to believe you took it from your lens but the pic is awesome
Thanks :)

Hey pfunk, where were ya? Put me back in Minneapolis, I am missing my home... Nice shot as well.
I like macro photography. Very beautiful photo!
This photo was taken on the iPhone 5s. Flowers called Proleski - first appear after the winter.
how often we pass by without noticing that surrounded by such beauty
I've always wanted to take micro photos. Even considered getting a degree in botany or biology.
Can anyone tell me how I can see the list of users I have followed?
I find reader post on Steemit quite compelling as little nuggets of wisdom such as this can only broaden my knowledge. I'm thinking of doing a film review slot soon as reviews through empire magazine are not worth a poke.
