It is official! Kodak has announced today that it is working on a blockchain based cryptocurrency for photographers. This news more than doubled their stock in the USA! KODAKcoin will help photographers fight plagiarism and manage the rights to their photos. This coin will work with their platform KODAKOne which allows users to upload and resister their photos. We can expect to see an ICO launched around January 31.
The CEO quoted:
"For many in the tech industry, 'blockchain' and 'cryptocurrency' are hot buzzwords, but for photographers who've long struggled to assert control over their work and how it's used, these buzzwords are the keys to solving what felt like an unsolvable problem. Kodak has always sought to democratize photography and make licensing fair to artists. These technologies give the photography community an innovative and easy way to do just that."
This is huge for cryptocurrency in general. If this crypto takes off Kodak will set a great example for other companies. Even betterthough, they could help eliminate some of the fear the general public has about crypto currencies. Once the public sees how this technology can work in a format they understand, concurrencies will gain even more popularity. This just goes to show that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology is here to stay!
