Among the trees in my neighborhood, the Cannonball tree has to be the weirdest among all. It's huge and has a thick trunk. It looks like it's not from our region because it's a tree that thrives in the Amazon basin. I'm not sure how it get here in my place but it seems that someone has planted it and we just simply preserve it.
The fruits are edible however it has an unpleasant smell and taste so it's not something that we want to consume. Some say that the fruit will cause allergic reaction to someone when eaten. Basically we don't benefit from this tree at all however we still find it interesting because of it's beautiful flower.
A while ago, I had the chance to visit the tree and took some pictures of the flowers. It has a bright pink color and it has plenty of stamens that look otherworldly. Regardless of whether the tree is useful or not to us, we feel preserving this tree because it makes our environment better.
Let me show you the pictures that I captured, enjoy!
