Your DTube Thumbnail is comparable to a book cover. A book cover is important, but ultimately what the most important thing is the content in that book. An album cover may be commissioned out to a great artist, but ultimately what matters most to the people buying that music is the quality of that music. While it's necessary to have a book cover, it doesn't make the book. The same way I believe it's necessary to have a proper DTube Thumbnail, but it doesn't necessarily make the video.
So to answer a short-question-long-short - yes it's important. Should you hire someone on Fiverr to do it for you? No. You can make thumbnails from an app on your phone. You can use a bunch of free photo apps just by googling. You can use photoshop if you want. There's many ways to create a thumbnail. Just get creative and make it your own! Happy DTubing guys!

Using thumbnails in my videos has really helped with catching the attention of people scrolling through @dtube. I personally use Photoshop CS6 but I started off on pixilr, a free sight that is very similar to Photoshop. Thanks again for posting great content! :)
