Hi Friends!
New series - my last autumnal 3-day trip to Pomerania district in Poland.
This time I focused more to discover something new inland not only by the shoreline... but of course I reached the shore and explored new place during the last day whioch I will show and write more about it later in future post...
I reached the location in the evening so it was dark already, very windy weather, little rainy but quite warm.
It was the last day of October. I found a big parking place on the edge of Kolbudy city. From here I had about 5 minutes drive to my spot - Jar Reknicy Nature Reserve.
Night was calm and very peaceful. On the morning I orgnize myself and go towards the final destination.
I found a parking spot by the forest road and after gathering my gear I headed towards the forest gorge.
Few words about the Jar Reknicy Nature Reserve - it is a place where small river Reknica is flowing in a bottom of a very deep gorge covered by old, natural beech forests.
This kind of landscape is quite unique because of the natural type of the forests which is typical for this area of Poland - Pomeranian beech forest - and of course the gorge itself which is a great geological example of how the rivers can change the terrain.
All of these protected elements were something which I really wanted to see and photohraph.
My first impression was very positive.
The trees were really tall and huge and the walls of the gorge very steep and high.
The place is quite dangerous because falling down such a steep hill, 50 meters high, can cause a serious injure to our body or even worse.
Finding a safe way down was a first challange I met. Hills were build by sand and covered by fallen leaves, wet leaves and wet surface... so it was very slippy on the path.
The river was quite small but not small enough to jump over without getting wet. Luckily it was covered by many old fallen trees whish I used in my exploration as a natural bridges to get to the other shore when necessary.
The whole place is really beautiful. You have a feeling of being in a really wild location despite the fact that the nearest town is located few kilometers away and the road is going nearby.
I walkend into the gorge in about a middle of the protected area so I decided to go down by the river towards the Kolbudy city.
On my way I was trying to capture the most interesting places, working slowly on my compositions, trying to feel the place, relaxing, taking my time because I knew I have a whole day there so nothing really rushed me at that moment.
The weather was ok, sky was cloudy so I didn't have a direct sunlight, for a woodland photography it is even better to have such conditions because the shadows are not so dark and the colours much more saturated. Most of the autumnal leaves were gone from the trees but I found few spots where they were still on the trees.
In this gallery You can see many different shots - some of them panoramic, some of them taken with long exposure time. My goal was to catch all the things which I found interesting to myself. I hope I menaged to do so :).
After few hours the weather begun to change - wind got stronger and the sky darker. At that point I was quite far from my starting point so I decided not to go further but to go back to the car. The landscape changed also making the gorge much more flat and the forest much more dense. River itself was flowing among bushes and didn't look so interesting as before. Because of that and because of changing weather I decided to go back but at the very end of my trip I found something uniqe which I will show You in my next post!
That day was very succesful! I took a lot of great shots, I discovered new location which will stay on my list to "revisit", I had a great time one-on-one with beautiful nature... what else to say.
I hope You liked the shots and my story.
In my next post I will show You what I discovered in this place and what I decided to do in my second day of the trip so stay tuned guys! It will be beautiful - even more in my opinion :).
Take care! Thanks for all the support and have a great day!
