The The Devil's Throat cave in Bulgaria
The name of the cave comes from the shape of the former entrance , resembling the devil's head . The cave have been found in 1962 of several mountaineers.
The Devil's Throat is a precipitous cave that is formed as a result of the fall of the Earth's layers. Its main part is occupied by a large hall, which has the highest underground waterfall on the Balkan Peninsula.
The cave was taken from a river that fell below the ground at 42 m tall , forming a huge hall called "The Whispering Hall" . Its length is 110 m, the width is 40 m and its height reaches 35 m . This is the largest hall in Bulgarian caves .
The cave is entered through a 150-meter artificial gallery , which reaches the base of the water stream . From here , up to 301 steps up the underground waterfall through the old entrance to the surface . About 400 meters from the entrance of Devil's Throat , the waters of the underground river are lost in a siphon gallery . The length of the siphon is more than 150 m , and after 60 m the underground river leaves the cave and returns to the surface through a cave .
Devil's Throat Cave is among the 100 National Tourist Sites in Bulgaria . The length of the cave is 1 km, the tourist route - 350 m . They say that the temperature inside there is +8 degrees Celsius . The cave is open for tourists every day regardless of time and season :)
