The Cathedral - A Question of Perspective (Using SnapSeed Photo Editor)

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Scenario One

A beautiful winter morning, snowflakes drifting from the sky as the ethereal dawn light bleeds turquoise through the heavens.

The Cathedral stands tall and proud; illuminated by heavenly choirs, or perhaps just the spotlights at its sandstone foundation.

Scenario Two

Bitter winds whip around the shoulders of this looming behemoth. Slushy snow spitting from the heavens, raining ice on the Anglican cathedral and my upturned face.

The bone-white sky a flat expressionless martyr, waiting for the bell to toll. The dark sandstone Cathedral grinds as stones settle and metal warps... in the cold.

Ha ha, I'm just having a little fun here with poetic descriptions of the two images above. I decided to write these two descriptions to show how differently the two versions of the picture inspired me as a creative writer.

I am fairly new to photography and especially to editing software/apps. I was unaware until now how far you could change an image and the implications on the perspective in which it will be viewed.

The question is: which of them has been doctored?

Let me know what you think in the comments.

Thanks for reading 🙂

Mine eye doth give say the snow in said photo (2) give It the title of the no make up natural beauty.

Spot on Jay. The second one is untouched and the first one is messed with massively in SnapSeed Photo Editor ;-)

I love the first scenario. In my opinion. The first scenario present all aspect, the building, the weather and tress. In second pic, the tress lost. This is just my opinion. I think when you make the 1st picture as cover, you do the same thought with me. Greeting and blessing.

Yes, the first version of the picture is my favourite also:)

Yes, the first version of the picture is my favourite also:)

So you think the first one is the edited one? 😉

I don't know, but if I try to analyzed then I can say the first picture is edited. Because the camera when dealing with a lot of light will make the photo object darker. It is just my opinion, this is also depends on what camera you use. But because of this perspective, it can be from a snow perspective (1st pic) or from a building perspective (2nd pic). Hehe

Well.... you're absolutely right in the analysis and which photo was edited :)

100% vote to u bro 😎

Wow... Thank you very much :)

The first version captured everything around the cathedral. Even the second scenario is good. hahah, I can't decide.

Hey @seyiodus yeah I think both descriptions have a place.... after all everything can't always be bright and sunny. Btw, the first (title) image was the one that was edited. thanks for checking out my post 🙂

Thanks @raj for your creative display of these 2 scenarios. Really cool

You're welcome Robert. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics and the creative descriptions.

I love your descriptions and the first image had some color added to it?
Blessings!

Ha ha, you're right... It is the first pic that was edited. I added lighting effects and changed the sky colour. 🙂
