Summary: A fun time was had by all when the marching band participated in the first Rustin home football game of the season. This week, the team's national ranking improved from 1,639 to 1,382, and their rank in the state of Pennsylvania improved from 54 to 52. This post contains a photo-essay from the game, including marching band performances, football, cheer-leading, and dance team.

Rustin's first home football game was a big night for the marching band, too, because it was the first time performing the new show in uniform, and in front of a public audience. This year's show is called, Descent into madness, and musical selections include a work by Green Day, Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

The marching band took the field before the game, at about 6:30 pm. After two quarters of football, halftime included performances by Rustin's dance team, and also by Great Valley's marching band.

Home football games are also important to the marching band because the band boosters get the volunteers who operate the concessions stand, which provides yet another much-needed service for the stadium crowd.

And of course, we have to talk about the football. Rustin's #8 single-handedly scored 6 out of 7 touchdowns and rushed for somewhere approaching 200 yards on the way to the team's 47-7 victory, which extended their record to 2-0. Other players who had especially busy nights moving the ball included #7, #25, #32, and #42. During the week, the team's rank on maxpreps.com improved from 54 to 52 in the state, and 1,639 to 1,382 nationally. We'll have to see what happens to it this week.

This reverse play is when Great Valley's #2 ran more than 50 yards for the team's only touchdown of the night.

But of course, I was too slow with the camera to get the back-flips again.
