Jänispää
These are photos taken at a "mountain" called Jänispää ("rabbithead"), which is close to Sevettijärvi in Finland, at the southern edge of the Kaldoaivi wilderness.
The photos were taken by me and my wife two weeks ago on our trip around north-eastern Lapland.
Some tasty cloudberries.
The cloudberry harvest this year in Finland was probably the greatest in my whole lifetime. Spot the mosquitoes?
There were plenty of both... berries and bugs.
Some random wolfish monster appeared while we were eating berries. He joined our banquet and ate some berries too.
Yup... it started raining... a lot.
But it only lasted for a few minutes and afterwards we got to enjoy a beautiful rainbow in the sky.
The wilderness <3
After the rainclouds went away and the evening drew closer, a beautiful halo appeared in the sky.
We wanted to take a photo so I had to stand in front of the Sun.
Mountain Bearberry ("Arctostaphylos alpina") and Crowberry ("Empetrum nigrum").
Both are edible, but not too tasty. Crowberry contains plenty of antocyanins and flavonoids and other cool stuff, while Mountain Bearberry is quite poor in everything.
Tahvo "Toffe" "Röhvö" the Lapphund enjoying the view... Actually he is only resting there because 10 minutes ago he had run after a big white reindeer for maybe almost a kilometer if not more.
The truest way of enjoying a sip of rum:
In the wilderness.
Thank you!
Butiful
Thanks :)
Those are some lovely pictures, the berries look really nice too. I bet the air up there is fresh and crisp :)
Thank you. Ahh the air there was so fresh and clean. I can't wait to someday move out of these city outskirts where I live at the moment and live permanently in the wilderness.
