Where in Asia do you live? I can't wait to move there myself, but I suppose change is always good. I would say same as any tourist really, keep your wits about you and try to learn the local language and you'll earn the locals' respect same as any country I'd say! I would check myself what the sentiment towards US citizens are explicitly though.
I live in Taiwan. And it's fine here. Just ready to move on. The natural beauty in Taiwan is great. The cities aren't so great. Thanks for your thoughts on Chefchaouen.

Although saying that, Chechaouen explicitly is so laid back I don't think it'd be an issue here.
