Central Washington is a great place to live and work. With four well defined seasons there's always something to do for outdoor enthusiasts.
West of Spokane, WA a dam near Tum Tum(yes, this is really the name of a small community) creates Long Lake. Summer time temperatures in the high 80s and 90s drive people to the cool water.
Riverside State Park is one of the premier destinations. It's open shoreline and rock formations draw hundreds of swimmers and rock divers on almost a daily basis throughout the summer.
Until recently the road access has not been up to par, however. The project shown here will be a major improvement.
First, the old road. Imagine cars crammed between trees wherever space could be found. No place for garbage and no restrooms.
In a combined State and County project, over a mile of road is being widened and graveled. Restrooms, garbage bins and parking space are being provided.
Paths lead from the parking area to the river's edge.
For those interested in jumping off the rocks, mother nature provided this staircase for two legged creatures wearing flip flops.
The area is restricted due to construction, so I had the place almost to myself.
This marmot allowed me to get within 10 feet before he scampered off.
Right away I learned why he was reluctant to let go of his perch!
Down closer to the water's edge I was glad to have the shore alone.
Understanding the reason behind what I help build is important to me. Taking the short walk to the destination of so many people made me realize the improvements are well worth it.
A few more days and this peaceful site will be bustling again!
I will be back with more!
Looks nice. Great pics too. How is the weather? Looks pretty cold.

About 80 deg F, 25 deg Celsius.
If not for the construction, people would have been swimming when I took these photos.
Thanks for checking out my post!
Keep em comin. I enjoy your channel. ;)

Good photos and narration. Central washington? Does that mean this place is in USA? I always thought that USA has no place which is under developed! But these pictures show still there are places where even basic aminities are lacking,
Spokane WA, USA. Spokane is a city of 200,000. Most of the surrounding area is very rural.
Central Washington is dotted with small towns but most of it is large farms. Wheat, barley, corn, etc.
Check out Palouse
Thanks for taking a look.
Such a nice view. I'll have to visit there when I visit my family in Seattle.
I would like to get some photos from out on the water after the work is completed. I'd like to see how many people use this access.
4 to 5 hrs from Seattle. Depending on which part of Seattle. lol. Could take 4 hrs just to get through Seattle to I-90!
It's surprising how many Steemians either live in the Seattle area or have family and friends there.
The Pacific Northwest is filled with scenes like I showed.
Washington state is quite a mixed bag. Mountains, desert, ocean, lakes and rivers. No shortage of beautiful spots. (volcanoes also).
That sounds awesome! I'll definitely keep that in mind.
Yes, it does seem a lot are from Seattle. I mean, we even have a Seattle-based Radio station(@rainieraveradio) here on Steemit and in the SMG discord server.
Hahaha I like how you added
I'm wondering if you intended that for me considering my location :P
I wish I could say that. You are in Hawaii?
I was thinking of Mt. St. Helens. I'm not that sharp tonight, lol.
Nice Picture roundhere ! :D
We would love to invite you to our Discord server.
In here we have more artists for you to connect to and
