Are still much differences between Smartphones and Professional Cameras?
I have no doubt that all of us here recognize the value of a good photographic tool when it comes to taking pictures. We love our cameras, in which we invest time, money and passion. But I'm sure we also recognize that sometimes it's hard for us to take them with us, even if we know we'll want to take a picture. I'm not talking about a job or a photo session, I'm talking about all those everyday occasions where we take photos and, of course, we want it to be of the highest possible quality, but not at the price of carrying a reflex with us.
First of all, I want to break with the prejudices of "the mobile camera is useless". Although in the first mobile phones with camera included this only had an anecdotal presence, I believe that no one escapes that they are currently the most used cameras around the globe, and this has forced engineers to improve them at a speed like never before seen in technology.
Nowadays, any mobile phone mounts a high resolution sensor and offers a complete configuration menu of parameters such as shutter speed, ISO, white balance, exposure compensation, HDR, burst, stabilizer, histogram... They also mount very advanced sensors and increasingly better lenses. In other words, they have fewer and fewer creative and technical limits. Of course, there are still some differences that can be found between these terminals and larger cameras.
Until not so long ago, large, sharp, detailed images were only possible with large cameras, but technology has evolved to change this. In bright situations such as daylight on the street, the results of my mobile phone have shown that they can be practically the same as those of my best photographic equipment.
So, what is your opinion about this topic? Which of these you prefer to take photos?
I prefer Bridge Cameras. They have most of the capability of DSLRs, but cost less and still have a very good zoom range. The capability of smartphone Cameras is amazing for their size, but they need to get close to their subject. This is the advantage we get with DSLRs and bridge Cameras, we can take pictures or shoot video from 100m away.
