Greetings Steemians!
Welcome back to the second part of the tour through the monastery of Odigítria.
To the north-east of the monastery stands a smaller chapel, built in more recent times, which blends beautifully into the Cretan landscape.
During my stay in May the temperatures were still bearable. A month later, one would probably prefer to be inside the chapel instead of enjoying it from the outside.
The interior of the central church. Typical for an Orthodox church is the lack of benches. Just a few chairs alongside the wall for the older community members. The interior is sumptuously decorated with numerous icon paintings, artful woodcarvings, gilded and silver chandeliers.
In several places of the monastery there are beautiful flower and plant arrangements.
There's also a little local museum in one of the wings. An old olive mill, a wine press and a warehouse with historical equipment are exhibited there.
A guest room was established in a former monk's quarters. I could not find out though, whether it can be booked by tourists for an overnight stay.
Enough sun for today, says the kitten. I agree with that.
I hope you enjoyed the tour through the monastery! Next excursion goes to the famous ruins of the former Minoan metropolis Phaistos. I hope to welcome you there again!
Thanks for watching and enjoy a great day on Steemit!
Shaka

beautiful my friend, what country is this?
It's the island Crete which belongs to Greece. Cheers!
So süß.
Yes, whenever we travel the most important aspect is Temperature and sometimes high temperatures and low temperatures can give tough time to tourists. If day is pleasant then for sure our tours shines greatly and we can explore the places more enthusiastically.
I have to accept one thing that, the interior is so amazing here with all these decorative stuff and literally it's reflecting as Treasure Of Decoration. And genuinely speaking i can feel the soulful essence and ancient essence after watching these interior stuff and also we can say that this is reflecting as mini museum.
And yes, that kitten understood the importance of plantation and now enjoying that natural shed. And i really liked the expressions of kitten and it's really cute and adorable, and also reflecting as kitten is posing for the photography session.
Thanks for sharing this post with us and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
Ohh how beautiful! Greece is on my list of places to visit! I’ll actually be in EU next month traveling. I plan on visiting Belgium, Italy, France, London, and maybe Croatia. Let me know if you have any fun travel tips or places I should see!
In case you can arrange for it you may also want to visit Berlin. Since Berlin is vast (and flat) I would recommend you to rent a bike for 2-3 days. In my opinion the best way to get to know Berlin. Some highlights are listed -> here
My top 3 would be Hackesche Höfe, Museum Island and East Side Gallery.
I wish you a fantastic tour across Europe! Cheers!
Aww awesome! Okay I’ll keep that in mind when planning! :)

Want to have your post on the map too?
These beautiful kittens stole my heart, hurts are so far from me... Although this time you only showed us 1 of the great gang of the last delivery. =)
True, but this one was the cutest of the gang :)
Very enriching your visit to the monastery, and that word filled with curiosity to know the history and admire through your photographs a place so full of culture, beauty and vegetation native to that climate, thanks for sharing and writing about the history of the monastery of Odigítria. Greetings @shaka
Schon irgendwie eigenartig...
Another great edition of Discovering Crete
Amazing pictures, look at that shy cat, wow !!, those equipments are really old. @shaka
Thank you!
awww that kitten is too cute, is hiding from the sun.
It makes you want to lie in the monk's room, it looks super comfy.
An exquisite collection of lamps, I imagine that the climate was really hot, That even the kitten hid from the sun. Beautiful the Monastery of Odigítrias. As always fascinated by traveling with you!
Thank you!
The temperatures were still bearable, but a month later and the summer heat kicks in.
Very nice historical sites. You wrote a good article. I read in great admiration. @shaka
Thanks!
Greece is such a wonderful place. It has such a rich history and culture. I would really love to go there someday.
It is definitely worth a visit!
Cool - I also just returned from Crete (and Milos) and putting together some posts. I missed all those monasteries though ;)
Cool, dann schaue ich gleich mal in deinem Blog vorbei :)
I loved this picture among all the one in your publication haha
Me too :)
It's a very beautiful place, I see the images and I feel like I'm in that place ... From what you say, you must have your history. It is comical the kitten that comes out in one of the photos. Greetings and blessings @shaka
Without a doubt a beautiful place if I can notice that it is seen in the images that there long ago, but inside the chapel it looks fresher
This chapel I liked a lot more in spite of being small it has many beautiful things
Beautiful images thank you for showing us more of this trip
really great post and place. the idea of a tiny local museum i think it's leveling up the place a bit more especially for tourists. The guest room if you can book it for a day or two it will take the experience to another level.!
The pictures are stunning.
But your forgot to answer my question I asked yesterday.
Is this greenery artificial ?
Everything inside the monastery is planted of course and taken care by the housekeeper.
Die Katze ist sooooo süss
Ja, das ist sie wirklich.
The structures look old in fact is the incredible of those places, the number of years they have and remain in perfect condition, it shows that the atmosphere is hot but either way the photos are excellent :D
I have been to few orhodox churches before, but never really noticed the lack of benches. I have to pay more attention next time. The items in the local museum are very nicely presented! Resteemed!
Thank you!
Hello how are you? this fourth installment shows me an adorable kitten in the shadow jajajaj is beautiful
Call my attention the flowers and plants, this tour becomes very exciting

Eine sehr schön anzusehende Fotoserie!
Go friend if you enjoy the tour, Who would think that a monastery would have such beauty.
Oh how beautiful is Crete;I love it, when I have enough money I will visit it.
It must have cost you a huge amount of money to come by these photos. What a hoby, very costly. If this place is a place where people are rewards with what's commensurate with time and effort, I guess this post worths $6000 payout. Keep it up sir

Very classic place to be. It is amazing to enjoy the beauty of every architecture.
The cats are cute and cute.
Makes me want to go there for a trip.
very hot so I can analyze your post.
What a beautiful chapel to show us through this publication.
Those arrangements are very beautiful.
I love the museum has many very entertaining and informative history.
nice post my dear friend!!
Beautiful are the photos you took, they are very good, and especially the beautiful flowers.
Greetings, these are some truly fascinating images, I hope you have the happiness one day to meet him in person, meanwhile I thank you for sharing!
This part is even incredible than the first one lot of things to look at it was a nice experience loved it :)
Toller Bericht!
What a lovely place! I've never been to Crete, but it's also in my bucket-list! Next Monday I'll go to Greece, near Mt. Olympos.
nice, place worth visiting!
This place is full of succulent plants. It must be dry area. Greece falls in Mediterranean type climate where summers are dry and winters receive rain. probably the long dry summer has changed the vegetation there. However, this place is looking so beautiful. Also, the interior of the monastery is so attractive. It is simple and free of pomp and show. Museum has many things which technology now have become outdated.
Great series!
