A few weeks ago I converted my old Canon 450D DLSR into a full-spectrum camera by disassembling the sensor unit and removing the low-pass filter along with the infrared-blocking filter. The resulting camera lost the ability to auto-focus correctly but that didn't bother me since I use live-view to focus manually.
